Another Sunday Sketch

OWH Stars & Stamps has a great sketch this week. This sketch is particularly great for all of those crafters who own the popular "inchies" stamps. I don't happen to own any (do you know the feeling that no matter how much you manage to buy you still don't have it all? :) so I made due with some flower embellishments I had from the Michael's $1 Bin and some old DCWV papers in my stash.

Don't forget that OWH Bunny Hop sign up ends this Wednesday! I am getting my own post ready and looking forward to seeing what everyone else has in store.

MWT Masculine Cards

I enjoy making masculine cards and typically include quite a few in each box I send to OWH. This is a card I included in my last box to Dixie. I've been working on some drawings that would be good for Father's Day cards but when I saw this week's MWT I decided now was as good a time as any to share it with you.

To download this free digital stamp/image simply click on the image and then use the 'save as' command to save it to your desktop. As always feel free to use this image as you like (especially for OWH cards), or post a link back here if you'd like to share it with your friends, but please do not sell it, repost it or claim it as you own.

Red, White, Blue & Kraft... It's Time

Here's this week's MWT, Red, White, Blue & Kraft. I love color challenges in general and as RWB is my all time favorite color combination there was no way I could sit this one out. This truck is from a retired StampinUp set but the sentiment is part of the current catalog.

And for anyone else out there who is excited about today, no not because it's Valentine's Day... but because today is the day that MLB Pitcher's & Catcher's report and that means that once again we've survived winter and baseball is just around the corner! Yeahhhh! The player is from a retired Stampin Up set. The baseball sentiment and ball are an old CTMH set and the Thinking of You is current and Hero Arts I believe.

First a Skip and then a Hop!

 Hello Everyone!

If you're following along on today's skip you should be arriving from Holley's Hobbies. If you've missed anyone you can go back to the top at the OWH Stars & Stamps Blog.

The basic idea behind this skip was that each participant would receive the exact same supplies to create a Spring card. We were allowed to add embellishments of our own choosing. It's an interesting experiment to see what a wide and varied assortment of final designs can come from the same materials.

I used my watercolor pencils to color the image because they'd make it easier for me to achieve the softer feel that I wanted. I decided that I would take my inspiration from the dotted paper and incorporated "curves" throughout my design.  The edge is trimmed with a scalloped scissor, I rounded the corners of the image, the base of the image backer and the punches framing the sentiment have rounded edges too.

As you can see in this shot I also added a piece of the purple printed paper to the edge of the inside. Since the front edge of my card is cut slightly shorter than the standard 4.25" doing this helps make the scalloped edge show up a bit better.

If you've enjoyed today's skip be sure to sign up for the March 5th OWH Bunny Hop! They are always full of inspiration and often lots of blog candy and surprises along the way. You can sign up HERE right now. Don't miss it!

Sketch #55 and the MWT Farm Animal Challenge

I may have found a solution to my never being able to stay caught up on the S&S Challenges, This week I decided I'd combine the sketch and the MWT into one challenge and here is the result.

The image is Kid's Coloring Page from the National Farm Toy Museum website.  That must be one fun museum! I have been fortunate enough to have visited many beautiful parts of our country and if I ever find myself anywhere near Dyersville, Iowa this place will be a must see on my list. (Please take note that while the internet is replete with supposedly "free" coloring pages you should always carefully review/consider copyright permissions and the manner in which you use the images).

The denim paper is actually a scan I did of a pair of my own jeans quite a few years back. I had a stack of color copies made and am finally at the end of my supply. The denim is so versatile, and especially nice for masculine cards,  I may have to do this again.
The other papers are bits from my scrap stash.

Friday Freebie

One of my New Year's resolutions was to post more often. Originally I figured that would mean trying to participate in more of the OWH Stars & Stamps Challenges. I've decided that since I'm not doing very well at keeping up with all the OWH Challenges that doesn't mean I can't keep up the second half of the resolution, which was to offer more Freebies as a way to help encourage others to participate with OWH.  So without further ado here is a Mother's Day sentiment.  (Just click on it and use the 'save as' command to save it to your computer.)
The OWH deadline for Mother's Day cards is March 31st. I'll try and post a picture of a card I make with this sentiment and would love to see how you've used it.

As always feel free to use this sentiment as you like, and post a link back here if you'd like to share it with friends, but please do not sell it, repost it or claim it as you own.
