First a Skip and then a Hop!

 Hello Everyone!

If you're following along on today's skip you should be arriving from Holley's Hobbies. If you've missed anyone you can go back to the top at the OWH Stars & Stamps Blog.

The basic idea behind this skip was that each participant would receive the exact same supplies to create a Spring card. We were allowed to add embellishments of our own choosing. It's an interesting experiment to see what a wide and varied assortment of final designs can come from the same materials.

I used my watercolor pencils to color the image because they'd make it easier for me to achieve the softer feel that I wanted. I decided that I would take my inspiration from the dotted paper and incorporated "curves" throughout my design.  The edge is trimmed with a scalloped scissor, I rounded the corners of the image, the base of the image backer and the punches framing the sentiment have rounded edges too.

As you can see in this shot I also added a piece of the purple printed paper to the edge of the inside. Since the front edge of my card is cut slightly shorter than the standard 4.25" doing this helps make the scalloped edge show up a bit better.

If you've enjoyed today's skip be sure to sign up for the March 5th OWH Bunny Hop! They are always full of inspiration and often lots of blog candy and surprises along the way. You can sign up HERE right now. Don't miss it!

  18. I love the way you layered all the different patterned papers. That's always a bit intimidating for me to work with so many patterns, but yours is beautiful! I also really like the green ribbon at the top. Thanks too for explaining about the strip of patterned paper on the inside edge of the card to make the scalloped edge stand out. I will have to try that technique! Awesome job, Paula.
