Hey there, welcome! I am very excited to be able to join in today and share a few Any Hero cards with you that I've made with some of the Stampers Best OWH Fundraiser Stamps that I have in my collection.
This card uses the SB set called Combat Boots along with a sentiment for the My Hero Sentiment set. After stamping the boots onto kraft paper I glue it a piece of chipboard from a cereal box to give it some heft and fussy cut them. I then used a brown colored pencil to add some depth to the shadows.

This card is made with the Grunge Stars & Stripes stamp. This is a lot more distressing than I'd typically do on a card but it was fun and I think it works well with the stamp. I used some old Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Fired Brick/Faded Denim) along with some scraps from my Bo Bunny Anthem paper pad and my scrap box.

I'm looking forward to writing a note of thanks into each one of these. The need for Any Hero mail is always great. If you'd like to know what I typically write inside mine check out this post. I know the mail is appreciated by our heroes and it makes me feel good too. Remember that writing Any Hero mail is something anyone can do, it can be written on store bought cards and you can get the kids involved using the OWH Coloring pages.

You always have such great ideas to jumpstart our creativity, Paula! So much eye candy - but I'm struck by how you created the "Hero" in the last card, wow! That's some love totally poured into the card!
ReplyDeleteWow - these cards have so many wonderful details and my favorite is the distressed American flag. The stamps are such a great element to say thanks to our heroes. I will add these to my wish list!
ReplyDeleteThe "Boots" card really strikes me- the color palette is reminiscent of army fatigues and your use of the industrial embossing plate speaks to the hard nature of a soldier's work. Thank you for telling the story not just in words and images, but also in the colors and textures you used.

ReplyDeleteLove all of these,Paula! That BoBunny paper is among some of my most horded and coveted. I'm surprised that I don't keep it in a glass box, I love it that much! The way that you did your boots is very cool. I will have to remember that and give it a try sometime!

ReplyDeleteFAB cards. I really like that image of the boots - nice coloring and the die cut border is perfect. You put so much time and love into your cards - just like fussy cutting and embossing HERO. I know that these are treasured by our heroes.

ReplyDeleteThose boots always had me stumped, but now after seeing them on the kraft paper, I will be adding them to my wish list along with the distressed flag from your second card. Love the eagle with the hero overlay. All three cards are fabulous: great layouts, colors, and ideas!

ReplyDeleteEach one of your cards have such wonderful details added.The Bald Eagle Portrait card is so awesome. The gold embossed HERO panel along with the sentiment are perfect for an Any Hero Card.

Made my first card a few days ago and though I will probably be doing Hero Mail for a while,its fun to see all the talent you and the others have. Also watching your bootcamps. Learning! ReplyDeleteI really like the 1st card and the idea of using cereal box for stability, But the Eagle card just kinda took my breath away. The way to made the HERO embossing is terrific, I am just awestruck by this card!
