Birthday Ewe & OWH Sketch #177

What a fun hop that was yesterday! Blog Hops and the OWH Virtual Card Making Parties always leave me pumped up to create for days afterwards so I decided to put some of the creative energy towards making a card with today's sketch, which I have not done in a very long time. I have a small envelope filled with a dozen or so images I've recently colored and this was one of them so creating this card was fairly quick.

Skewing a sentiment like this is not something you see me do often because it's difficult to do well. It's a case in which you are actually placing the pieces quite precisely but making them look a bit random too. If you aren't careful the pieces just end up looking disjointed and messy. I think it works here because the fun and playful nature of the image.

By the way, did you notice the repetition in this design? Lots of dots but in a variety of sizes and color repetition too. I chose my papers based on the colors I'd used for the image.

Swingin By with a Little Hello

The Gallery Idol Round 3 votes have been tallied and I am simultaneously sad, happy and a little relieved to say that I didn't make the Top 10 and my ride for the 2013 competition is done. It was a lot of fun to be able to play along with such a tremendously talented group of designers and I am looking forward to seeing the entries as the contest progresses over the next 2 weeks until the 2013 Gallery Idol is chosen.

I do have a quick little card share. I have been coloring images quite a bit in the last few weeks and this is one from Bugaboo Stamps. Isn't she cute with her bear by her side?

I usually color in a fits and starts style where my interest wanes within a week or so I'm a little surprised that I'm still at it. I did recently get a small folding table which makes it quick and easy to set myself up for coloring and I am thinking that just might be the reason. I am looking forward to some fun crafty time this weekend and hope you have some scheduled too.

Just Ducky

It is a gorgeous day here on the Connecticut Coast where I am today. I am a warm weather person and have always found my level of energy skyrockets on sunny days. Which is probably a good thing today because I still have a lot of yesterday's list left undone. It's not that I didn't intend to get it all done. I did. Really. 

After doing a few chores. I unpacked my supplies and got set up to do some creating with my next Gallery Idol entry at the top of my list and well let's just say that it was one of those days where you can 'see' what you want but actually making it happen is a whole other story. I'm ultimately pleased with the final design even though it bears no resemblance to what I first had in mind. I can't share it quite yet but voting starts tomorrow and I'll share it here as soon as it does.

In the meanwhile I thought I'd share a fun Summer card with you today. This adorable little guy is a digi from Bugaboo Stamps. Jodi has a really humorous style and I had fun coloring this.

I'm a baseball fan, (Go Yankees!),  so when I saw the theme for challenge over at the Catch The Bug Blog Challenge  (Bugaboo Stamps) I knew I had to enter and this cute digi I have in my collection came to mind immediately. Jodi has a such a fun and humorous illustrating style that makes her digi stamps versatile and especially good for OWH cards.

Make 'Em Laugh

There's a hop happening at the OWH Stars & Stamps blog today with a humor theme. I couldn't resist joining in the fun and while I have a huge collection of stamps that does include some "punny"ones these cards are all made with digi stamps from Bugaboo Stamps.
