Chinese Takeout - Lawnscaping Challenge 67

I'm joining in on the Lawnscaping Challenge to use pattern paper and Lawn Fawn Products in your card design. I had yet to ink up this set after adding it to my Lawn Fawn collection a little while back so I knew right off this was the set I wanted to use.

When it came time to find some paper pattern(s) that would work... well lets see, the phone book paper, since it connects to the idea of calling for take-out seemed like a good one and while red-checked tablecloths don't bring to mind Chinese, they are something that most equate with food of some sort, whether it's a picnic or Italian.

Lawn Fawn has such fun images and I had a lot of fun with the card using a combination of marker coloring and paper piecing. On the fortune cookies I paper pieced them first and then added some depth by coloring them in spots too.

Flying By with a Monochromatic Hi

Lawnscaping Challenge #66 is to create a Monochromatic card. As all my OWH Bootcamp Enlistees know the monochromatic color scheme uses variations (tints, tones and shades) of a single hue. What, you don't exactly, quite remember the most common color schemes? Well, it was way back in January. If you need a quick refresher on Color Theory go check it out here.

I have four or five Lawn Fawn sets but at first I wasn't sure how I would be able to make a Monochromatic design that would work well. I spread out the sets I had, did a bit of thinking and then decided that this cute little plane and cloud combo from the Bon Voyage set along with the sentiment from the Flying By set would be perfect.

I love both of these small sets and since there wouldn't be any use for the 'Bon Voyage' sentiment where OWH cards are concerned I very often find myself combing the sets in just this way. I think this will be a fun card for a hero to send home to a young boy.

The clouds were stamped on white and light blue and then fussy cut. The sentiment is heat embossed and I added a bit of detail and dimension to the plane and blue clouds with a few markers. Overlapping the clouds gives the illusion of some depth but they are all glued down flat. The airplane is popped with some foam tape to add some fun dimension.

A Few of My Favorite Things - Lawnscaping Challenge

The current Lawnscaping Challenge is to use your favorite stamps and supplies in a project. I don't know about you, but for me it's virtually impossible to narrow it down to just a few but I can say that I do love all of the Lawn Fawn sets I have, It's time to start thinking about Christmas cards to include into my next box for OWH and this cute little Winter Owl set by Lawn Fawn really is among my favorites

I love the sentiment that come with it but I also like that the owl can be used on it's own. Paper piecing the scarf is easy and fun. It makes a great winter card or really an any season design paired with a different sentiment and a switch to the scarf.  I also used several dies, which are definitely among my favorite crafting supplies.

The challenge is open until September 11th so dig out your Lawn Fawn stamps and join the fun.

You've Got Mail - Lawnscaping Challenge #64

Lawn Fawn has some of the cutest stamp sets around. I first discovered them a couple of years back when they took part in an OWH event and have been a fan ever since. I recently discovered the Lawnscaping Challenge Blog and have been trying to join in when I can. The current bi-weekly challenge is 'Distress Maniacs' and since I had yet to ink up this set that I recently purchased I decided it was a perfect opportunity.

There are a lot of cute little stamps in this set, like the tiny stamp and envelope, that lend themselves well to doing a 'collage' style card. When I start making a collage style card I often find that keeping track of all the things I'm using becomes a challenge in itself. LOL. With the exception of the tiny hearts (which are from the Lawn Fawn , Bee Mine mini) all of the various stamps you see are from the 'You've Got Mail' set. The grey distress squares in the backrgound were created by simply stamping the Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad (Weathered Wood) directly on the paper.

While CAS designs certainly have their place I've always enjoyed pieces that include lots of small details for the viewer to discover. I found myself completely absorbed and had a lot of fun working on this card.

Lawnscaping Challenge

Now before you think I'm talking about mowing the lawn, or trimming the bushes or weeding, the Lawnscaping Challenge is a paper crafting challenge devoted to using Lawn Fawn products. I came across this challenge blog not too long ago and this is my first time playing along but I love the Lawn fawn sets and have a couple so I'm hoping to play along often.

The sketch is shown as a square and I adjusted it to an A2 size but otherwise, as you can see, included all the elements, plus a few more. I'm not sure how easy it is to tell in this photo but I cut some clouds into the top of my card front panel and when it is folded flat you can see the blue panel, which is the inside of the card. I stamped a few of the clouds onto the top with Versamark. The airplane and cloud stamps are from the Bon Voyage set and the sentiment if from the Paper Airplane set. The red string of flags was actually already die-cut sitting on my table from another project I had just completed but it turned out to work nicely to fill in what was otherwise an uncomfortable gap and I like the way it adds movement to the design.
