Dad Cards - Letting the Paper Do The Work

When it comes to masculine card designs I often start the process with papers that can be turned into a nice design without becoming too frilly. The papers in both of these cards is from the K&Co. Boy Scout pad.

It's hard to go wrong with Chevrons... their popularity seems to still be going strong... they are still being seen everywhere!

On this second card the background paper was a design that was clearly designed for scrapbook pages. The navy blue tree/mountain graphic spread across the bottom of the page so I simply cut each corner to ultimately create two cards. Since the image on the right side was a mirror image of the one you see here I simply swapped the position of the sentiment and brads to the left side.

In both cases the card designs are quite simple but with enough attention and detail to pull them together, which is often even less then you would think if you start with a good pattern and let the paper do the work.

Happy Crafting!

P.S. These Sentiments came in the same small cling stamp set that I picked up long ago at my Michael's. I think it was made by Hampton Arts.

I just finished my son's Scout album and I think I'll dig through the papers to see what I can use on cards for Father's Day. Thanks for the inspiration!

You certainly did a nice job centering the chevron design. Nice card.

These are great examples of letting the paper do the work. I love it when that happens. I thought the second card was stamped and I was going to say what an awesome image. Now I'll say what an awesome use of paper!
