For The Boys

Hello Friends! After some torrential rains and wind last night, we're having a beautiful spring day where I am on the southern Connecticut coastline today. I am probably not alone in this but I have to say that my energy levels and mood are always significantly better on sunny days.

Okay, on to the card I want to share with you today. Since I began creating cards for OWH I have always found older boys to be the most difficult group to create for. There are lots of cute images for younger boys and making cards for teen girls is a breeze but teen boys... well that has to be the right mix of trendy, cool and masculine to not elicit a big cringe. Not an easy task, at least not for me, but the thought of a teenage boy maybe being left out of receiving a card from a hero dad or mom because they couldn't find one to send in their OWH box is enough to motivate me.

This image, called Skateboard Schoolboy, from Mo Manning at Mo's Digital Pencil is a great fit. She has quite a few nice images for teens in her store. I colored this with Spectrum Noir Markers and tried to make the rest of the design interesting but still clean and simple to keep the focus on the image. This sentiment stamp is one of a set I designed myself and had custom made some time ago when I decided I was short on good Miss You sentiments.

How about you, what group do you find the hardest to create for?

Hope it's sunny where you are today too!

I struggle with this category too. YOU rocked this one! I love your coloring and the sentiment works perfectly with this young teen. Kudos!

Great card...I agree with male teens being the hardest to create for and you rocked it.

I love Mo's images. Back when I had the patience to use digital I got one of her other tween images. They are perfect for teen cards.
