6 x 6 Paper Pad Tutorial

I finally got a chance to sit down with the 6x6 paper pad I'd purchased to try out Kristie's Tutorial. I had never purchase one before, I guess mostly because the 12 x 12 pads seem more economical. I will admit that I don't usually use sketches and while I intended to for this I wound up just going with the flow. (Disclaimer: I am a designer by trade so creating layouts is second nature to me, otherwise I would have definitely used sketches to help me).

I used the 24 sheet 6 x 6 pad, 5 sheets of various solids (8.5 x 11), some smaller solid scraps from my scrap bin, a few yards of ribbon, a couple dozen brads and various sentiments including some stamps, some computer generated and some SRM Stickers I had in my stash. I wound up with 31 cards total and little to nothing left over of the prints, just a few tiny scraps.

Here is a list of what I love about this:

1) The patterns all work together, no ability to mix-n-match needed.
2) Small patterns look great on cards.
3) Easy to coordinate a few solids, since the same colors repeat throughout the pad.
4) Short list of supplies would make this great for taking with you anywhere.
5) Easy to use up... you don't get bored, easy to have a variety on hand.
6) Small investment if you are new and/or on a limited budget.

I can say without a doubt I will do this again. It is particularly attractive to me because I don't have to unpack all my supplies as I normally would and it's fun and rewarding to see a nice bunch of cards when you're done with the pad.

Happy Crafting Everyone!

Awesome group of cards, Paula. I agree with you that it's nice to make cards this way because you only need to add in a few other supplies and you don't have to constantly go back through your stash. I like the pad of paper you chose because it has a wide variety of colors. I picked one that was basically all pink/orange/yellow, so the finished cards didn't look as diverse as yours do.

I'm so glad other people are enjoying my tutorial. And I originally thought it was just a little OCD issue of mine to use up all the papers and leave no scraps. It's so fun to look at everyone's pictures that are trying the tutorial. Your cards are beautiful and I'm impressed you don't need to use sketches.

I agree with you completely Paula! I LOVE this idea. It is so rewarding to see all the varieties of cards that come from one 6" x 6" pad. When I did mine however, I only ended up with 21 cards so I must, absolutely must, do this again and beat my best... :)
